This novel mesmerized me from beginning to end. The characters are rich and vibrant, The story is moving and compelling, and the whole experience left me exhilarated.

Very well written and very thought provoking; I read a little then set it aside for a time to let it digest. She weaves positive, life changing views about ourselves and our world thru the entertaining and enlightening life of Dave, a self-made billionaire.

Wonderful and most enjoyable!!

I think Rivera Sun writes beautifully. Her style is dynamic. The story is captivating and its ideas are compelling. For one, like me, who isn't Bhddhist, her exposition of the Sutras and Buddhism in general is quite interesting and informative. However, too much of this book is devoted to comdemnatory screeds against capitalism. She didn't, for my taste, do a very good job of finding the 'middle way' argument, but there again I'm not a Buddhist and perhaps I don't understand the finer distinctions of the Middle Way. I never understood that Buddhism was opposed explicitly to capitalism or socialism but rather to the failings of human nature; greed, unbridled lust, envy, anger, etc...basically, the seven deadly sins. I have always felt that the problems attendant to capitalism and socialism, in general, boil down to corruption. I believe that when espousing a "faith" like Buddhism it is important to understand that, depending on how you speak and how many thousand words you allow yourself to clearly explain, you meet or fail the challenge of expounding an ascetic non-duality and not sounding down right nihilistic. I have never felt that asceticism was essentially opposed to excellence but I feel like nihilism is. I have always felt that the greatest selling point of capitalism was that it rewarded excellence and ignored mediocrity. However when the Seven Deadly Sins get in the driver's seat mediocrity gets rewarded...and usually because it is cheaper. Condemning the whole system of capitalism as some great and wicked demonic evil side steps the real problem: weak human nature; and this is what Buddhism and most other living religions address when they are not busy trying to convert unbelievers. The intellectually sound will not condemn socialism or capitalism but rather the morally corrupted captains who steer those systems. Socialism may well be superior to capitalism or not, but we will not find the answer in looking at the extremes of either. I think there needs to be a middle way approach. It has been said that our real morality is shown by what we do when no one is looking. I would add that real philanthropy does not look for a tax write-off.

I was blown away while reading this novel. I rarely read novels but I got hooked. Rare it is that someone writes a story about riches to rags. We all know too well about the popularity of the stories about from rags to riches… but from a billionaire who knows he has become heartless and knows he needs to change and listens to his heart? wow what a wonderful story. chock full of incredible insights about who man is, about wealth, about the rights we humans feel we have over mother nature and an embracing of a new depth emanating from nature herself to be touched by the former billionaire.. to see him giving it away, to see him homeless, to see him traveling with his new spiritually deep woman traveler/lover, to see him in prison, to follow him and his heart and love side by side with our lives, my life and to feel once again and again how Buddhism touches peoples hearts and how deep they will go especially around a topic we don't really talk much about: our personal relationship to money.This is an important seed for all activists and non-activists alike. A warning: this book will change your life, however deep we want to go.Thank you Rivera Sun and Dariel Garner!!

It even discusses Mateen as the next great player. Though I don't agree with him on some issues (He thought Scott Skiles should of got a break on his DUI arrest and charge). The book will also give you feel for the turmoil that goes along with being a basketball coach in the Big Ten. From dealing with the Politics of the Administration on Campus, to clearing his name of any wrong doings with Parrish Hickman. The book also states why he stayed an extra two years...

My almost three-year-old son LOVES trains and I wanted to buy him some train books for Christmas. I had seen this book in my list of recommendations based on my recent purchases and it was a great price so I ordered it. When he opened it on Christmas morning, he was delighted! I have now read it to him and his twin sister so many times but they never get tired of it.This book is wonderful for little boys or girls to inspire their imaginations. The story is told in a beautiful, poetic way that makes it easy and fun to read. Each set of pages contains one or two sentences that describe what trains do during the day like load up their cargo, go through tunnels, and finally, at the end of the day, unload their freight and go to bed. Several of the pages even end with "whoooooo! whooooooo!," which is fun for kids to hear. The pictures even show all of the toys and stuffed animals taking part in the train's day-to-day activities which I love.As I was reading this book for the first time to my kids, I noticed that the style is very similar to another book that we own, My Truck is Stuck! I compared them and discovered that Kevin Lewis wrote both books and Daniel Kirk illustrated both as well so if your child likes that book, this one would be another good book to add to your collection.Chugga-Chugga-Choo-Choo is a wonderful book and is perfect for any child who likes trains. At roughly 24 thick, sturdy board book pages, it's a great size for small hands and I'm glad I found this one for my son. He loves it and asks for it every night before bedtime, as well as throughout the day! I highly recommend this book for anyone whose child likes trains!

My 9 month old son LOVES this book. I have my Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy Education, and this book is a great addition to any collection. It has repetitive language and fantastic rhyming patters. I think that we'll be having this book in our "favorites" bin for quite some time!**UPDATE** Two years later (and some duck tape on the binding)- this is still one of my son's favorite books. We've read it so much, that he now "reads" it wil me (he's a little over 2 1/2 half). The structure of the book makes it really easy for him to memorize and anticipate the next line. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND.

My toddler has loved this book since he was 6 months old. The story is in a great sing-songy rhyming structure, so it is fun to read. The illustrations are great, with lots of different toys and items to find on each page. It ends with the Choo-Choo going to bed, which makes it appropriate for a bedtime book. The board book is small and easy to take along in the diaper bag or on vacation.

I bought this book for my two year old grandson who is crazy about everything trains. He had been sick this week, so I went to see him today, and took the book. He was grumpy and out of sorts until I pulled this book out. His little face brightened up and he got so excited. He made his mom read it to him immediately. It is a very colorful book. Lots of great pictures, great sounds. Just right for a little boy who loves trains.

This is one of my almost 2 year old's favorite books! He has a Brio steam train that looks just like the one depicted in this book and always runs and grabs him when he sees me pull this book from the shelf. The story is short enough to hold his attention from start to finish and is a lot of fun to read. If your little one is a train lover like mine I definitely recommend getting the Brio steam train as well.

I'd bought this board book and the Steam Train, Dream Train (hardcover) at the same time and although both have their merits, my 17 months old daughter much prefers the board book at this stage, which is understandable.The pictures are bright and fun, and the text is just the right length for before nap or bedtime. Only the last 2 pages are in a darker color background (purple) to encapsulate nightfall and sleepy time, but even then they are still colorful. The covers are glossy, and pages are matte.The second book is more advanced and while the illustrations were cleverly done, they're enshrouded in darkness reminiscent of the night, thus giving it a grainy effect. Nevertheless, I'm keeping the book as I believe we'll grow into it.For now, we really enjoy reading Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo. My daughter's started pointing to the dog, (teddy) bear, ball, and book and saying the words. She also loves echoing Whoooo Whoooo along with me. I would definitely recommend this book!

I initially got this book from the library and my 18 month old daughter loved it. It became such a regular choice in her night time routine that I had to buy it. A month later and, with some variety mixed in, she still loves it. The pages are busy with images of toys loading, driving, and unloading the train. The writing is very rhythmic, reminiscent of a real train. I think that's what makes it so appealing to my daughter; she loves rhythm and music. She has picked up the wood "choo choo" from this book and has developed a love of trains. I like the premise that the whole story is really a little boy using all his toys to create an imaginative adventure for his train set. And I like that it ends with the little boy all tuckered out from playing and the toys delivering his beloved train to his bed.

After my nephew bumped his head and had to go to urgent care he had his mom read him this book over and over again while waiting for a doctor. The pictures and story are great I just didn't love that it was small and not a typical hardcover, no title page for a note that I write when I give my nephews books. But I'm giving it 5 stars seeing as it calmed my 2 year old nephew down during what was a time he normally would be crying.

This book takes you so much deeper and exposes so much of satans kingdoms so the enemy can’t come against you and you be ignorant. The Lord said He would not have HIS people ignorant!And this book exposes so much, so much to learn!!!

The actual contents of this book are great! This is a useful tool. But $18 for a book that is poorly printed and did not arrive in even like new condition is unreasonable. In addition, these contents can be found for free in pdf form - it would be much more feasible to print them out myself.

Eye-opening book that helps you identify demons, traits, habits, with biblical references. I recommend this to anyone who does deliverance as well as ones who are maintaining their new freedom from deliverance. Although it is a little redundant, it helps you to remember which spirit/demon/sin is related to or works with others. Overall 5 stars on this book. I might buy it as a gift for others

This is a good read. I think that people need to know that Satan is alive and horribly well in this world and he uses everything at his disposal to hurt anyone who is not one of his own. This book reveals some of the ways Satan comes into our lives to hurt us and helps us to be aware of what to look for so we can prepare for attacks.

I was disappointed. You said it contained demons and how to stop them, and all it ended up being was a bloody dictionary. I want my money back. I meant to only give you 1 star, but my phone wouldnt let me.

Straight to the point. It gives you demons along with the names of those they group themselves with. Awesome resource.

I will admit the description at the time I purchased this coloring book last fall; hooked this adult colorist's attention right away. The main selling point for me was the variety.Unfortunately upon on it's arrival however, I quickly discovered it wasn't worth the $2 price of admission. Because it promises many things and delivers next to nothing as far a quality and substance goes.It promises 50 pages to color and that is all the promise it delivers. As a preschool teacher I've experience in putting together "homemade coloring book handouts" for students. This is the feel that I got from this book packaged inside a "store bought cover."Here is why I don't believe this book doesn't meet basic adult coloring book standards. - 48 pages of designs abruptly cut off or run off the pages.Some on the sides, top to bottom, in other cases all four sides.- 35 pages are a scatter of random leaves and flowers scattered across the pages.-15 pages have very small details but, the design isn't anything special just random images.The paper quality is very poor its thin and my gel pens and markers bled through and the paper itself "pilled". Leaving bits of paper on the nib.This book says : this adult coloring book.has over 50 beautiful patterns and provides hours of stress relief ....Personally this creatspace book is an annoying example of why I tend to go with brands I can trust Dover and Creative Haven and don't venture into self publishing very often. Couldn't recommend to others

Pros:- Neat paper- Not as pix-elated as similar- Some great designs- Nice VarietyCons:- Some may be too detailed for meSo I got this around the same time I got a lot of other coloring books. What really sold this for me were some of the beautiful pictures of women/dancers. There are several great designs in here but there are a few that may not be for me. Some seem too detailed for the kind of median I work with. That being said there is a huge variety of images to select from.Watercolor:Use very small amounts of water and it's possible. Obviously this is not made for watercolor but it's possible. I used very light amounts and allowed time to dry after a few colors. I would leave a page below and above and close the book to keep the paper from wrinkling.Marker:If you plan to use marker on some of the designs keep at least two pages under the page you are working on. The marker will bleed and you will clearly see the design on the back but it's kind of fun.Colored Pencil:The obvious choice of median. I don't use pens like others but I do use color pencil and it worked well. I was not able to do some of the smallest details but I was happy with the way my design turned out and the pencil was very vibrant on it.Photo of the book shows it compared to my sketchbook that is 11" x 14". The butterfly photo is with watercolor. The full color one is with colored pencil.If you do not see photos please allow Amazon a few days to process them.

I totally loved this coloring book, I like to draw and paint but I had been uninspired with no ideas about what to draw so this book helped me to continue doing art in other way; some designs are too detailed and small but is not a big problem.I travel all the time and have to wait long hours (restaurants/airport) by myself so this activity is a good way to enjoy your time while being alone. Also is great if you play your favorite music while coloring this book and there is plenty of space if you want to draw something to add your personal touch.If you are a starter like me I suggest buying Crayola colors; I didn’t want to spend so much money in this hobby so I found for $7USD the “Crayola 64 Ct Short Colored Pencils Kids Choice Colors” Crayola 64 Ct Short Colored Pencils Kids Choice Colors which has a large variety of colors that look nice.Since I loved this activity I bought some metallic colored pencils, I haven’t start using them yet but I think those will bring another element to this cool activity.Faber-Castell 12ct Metallic Colored EcoPencils

The designs are pretty, but very small. REALLY SMALL. I wanted to use colored pencils. However, for most of the illustrations, it is nearly impossible to color inside the black lines. The details are just way too small. Note the size in reference to the pencil.

Beautiful images but some of the details are too tiny to actually color. I colored this photo with the Prismacolor Premier Double Ended Art Markers, Brush Tip and Fine Tip, Set of 24 Assorted Colors with Carrying Case. I would highly recommend these markers as well!

I was going to send this as a Christmas present because my girlfriend’s (only been dating for a few months) mom recently retired. Had I not look through the first few pages of this book, her mom would have thought this is some kind of a sick joke and I am probably a pathetic pervert with a distateful sense of humor. The author’s idea of “fun” is telling people they should knit nude suits. On page 22 lays a large photo of a male wearing a knitted elephant underwear with its nose hanging out. Might want to do some research on your audience’s demographics before assuming most of them are just a bunch of bored and horny senior citizens.On top of that, most of the activities mentioned and “suggested” in here are no brainers - going to the museums, take on archery, painting, reading, going to live music, etc. I didn’t want to read further because it might tell me to drink more coffee, walk, take a shower, floss, breathe, scratch my nose, or blink my eyes because those are what educated and accomplished retirees tend to forget how to do and need to be reminded again.Yeah, I want my money back.

The ideas presented are very basic and I feel anyone who spent 30 minutes thinking of activities would come up 75% of these ideas. The book is somewhat entertaining but most likely won’t be overall enlightening.

Got this for a guy who recently retired after 30+ years and he was not sure how he would adjust with all of the sudden having so much free time. This book, he said, was just what he needed to make sure he and his wife could stay busy and make the adjustment.

Bought this as a retirement gift for a coworker. He loved it!

This is a super cute idea for a retirement gift! I disagree with some reviews that say you could sit down and think of most of these. There are some obvious ones, but there are also a lot of unique ideas I don’t think most people would ever think of. The cover says, “Funny”, I didn’t find this book funny at all. Just a cute read for a bored retiree.

It was more of a serious list of things to do, I had to add my own twisted humor into it to customize it for my friend. I think it would have been more appropriate for his more proper wife than it was for him and his wild sense of humor. Good list of things to do for the retiree if they get bored and can't think of what else to dO!

This is a wonderful "think outside the retirement box" written in a digestible easy style. Full of productive suggestions and ideas for the past 65 set, it makes a good stocking stuffer or B-day gift if you're not too sure what to get your folks or Grandma! Also, I'll add it's a open to any page type of book, you don't have to start at the beginning, so it's good to keep in the car or reference again at anytime --

This book is really not that funny and sure does not have any novel ideas for people who have any kind of an active life. I thought there would be outrageous ideas off the beaten path. No just very simple ideas for people who have no interests outside of their jobs and careers.

Early on, I thought this book was fantastic. As others have written, it bounces around among personal history, Czech history, sci-fi, love and general philosophical musings. As it progressed, I felt that the author had lost his way (or, perhaps, was pursing an idea until it forgot the point he was trying to make). While I had hoped for a somewhat happy ending (and arguably it has a happy ending), it became obvious that any happy ending wouldn't be the one a reader had begun to anticipate. And that's fine. Unfortunately, in trying to tie together all of the disparate threads, the author seems to have sacrificed the beautiful, seemingly effortless style of the first 80% of the book by more or less making declarative philosophical statements that seem to have come out of nowhere. It does make sense in its context, but it left me a bit frustrated at the end. Still, nicely written and, until near the end, highly engaging.

As some other reviewers have stated, "Spaceman of Bohemia" is something of a mishmash; it is part science fiction (though that turns out to be a small part); part family saga; part rumination on love and what it entails; and part a mini-history of Czechoslovakia and the collapse of the Soviet Union.It is not a perfect book by any means; it meanders and rambles and goes off on digressions and lines of thought that can be tedious. However, at the end of the day (or, rather, of the book), there is a sweetness and acceptance of some of the bumps that life puts in our way, along with some sadness that things don't necessarily work out the way you'd like.While it's impossible to exclude or ignore some of the excesses of the book (those digressions noted earlier), Kalfar definitely has talent. He uses a mixture of devices -- straight narrative, dialogue and an epistolary set of transcripts from the hero's wife's psychotherapy sessions, among others -- to make his point. The characters seem quite real as well.So while he needs some more discipline, there is a good and maybe a great writer here, and I look forward to his next work(s).

I am a bit lost for words right now - I expected, based on the first few pages, a vaguely wry semi satire. I did not expect the emotional depth and unflinching complexity and sincerity that this book laid out.It’s about space sure, but it’s about history and time and about the ways you can and cannot know the hearts of others, about the way every decision we make has a cost and about the way nothing we do only impacts us.This whimsical little exploration contains universes. It made me grin, it made me guffaw, it made me tense up in dread and it made me sob.This is life.

This is a wonderful book. It is not really a space travel or science fiction book as you might think. More about Prague, people and the changes and choices they make through life. ...there is that space spider however.Very enjoyable and enlightening.

It's not really Sci-Fi. Well Kind of. I'm fast to buy books but slow to read them. Finally dug into this after it sat on my nightstand for a year. Wow! What I had been missing! I have so many books to read but now I want to read this one again.Expect to be taken on a journey to destinations that keep getting away. Prior reviews are already on the mark and you'll note that not a single review of this fabulous new author is below 3 star and most squarely at 5 star. I hope he pens a new book soon as this next one won't sit on my nightstand waiting a year for me to pick it up.

The story is well-summarized in other reviews, so I will comment only on its broader significance. It is placed in post-communist Czech Republic but reflects the new realities in all of central and eastern Europe, dealing with and digesting precipitous changes in politics, the economy and culture. A sci-fi adventure is superimposed on this background. It is well-written, inventive and it rings true for those of us who came from that corner of the world. It is a good read for anyone interested in other cultures but also treats romance and adventure in terms familiar to the American reader.

An interesting idea with one disappointing element for a Czech insider - some facts as described reveal an author living for a long time far from home. A family expulsed from the middle of nowhere to Parizska street? Come on. Worth checking for people visiting Prague (Parizska = the most posh street of Prague). This is just an example of wrong facts that disturb an otherwise good read. I know it is not the most important aspect of the book but for me it was quite disturbing. The story of guilt, failed relationship, all this in the context of surrealist space travel is what I found intriguing. And I obviously loved Hanus sharing his passion for Nutella :)

I really enjoyed this book not least because I have been to Prague but also because it has many pieces that I enjoy: space travel, mysterious strangers, love found and lost, friendship, the beginning of the Cosmos, the pleasures of home. An ambitious romp through space and time.
