A well collected helpful book
- I love the compact factor. The book is comprised of 266 beautifully printed good-quality pages, which are 5.25 inches wide X 8 inches tall.- First, as a self-test, review the 10 patient vignettes and do your best to generate a differential diagnosis as you keep in mind the list of diseases for that organ system. Then read thru the chapters. Begin with the checklist of diseases affecting an organ system. Next, move to the chapter vignettes, and then unto the disease discussions which begin with a parthenogenesis section that names the correct diagnosis in the first section. Then the discussion moves on to disease specific clinical presentation, diagnostic studies, morphological findings, differential diagnosis, and treatment/outcomes along with integrated physiology and pharmacology correlations. Finally test your knowledge with the assessment questions at the end.
I'm not in the medical field but I find the vignettes in this book fascinating. They are so very well written and I try to determine from my very limited medical knowledge what the diagnoses are. I've been pretty much wrong every time but it's mentally stimulating nonetheless. As you can see for yourself by using the, "Look Inside" function, how well laid out the 10 vignettes are. The book itself is kind of small and very easy to carry. The pages are high quality paper with very good printing. This book should be interesting and helpful to anyone thinking about going into medicine or those who like medical situational challenges.
This a very small and compact review book which is actually kind of nice in comparison to some of the larger bulky ones. The format of questions at the beginning and then answers later is not badly done. Nice way to have the student generate differential diagnosis.
This book is a great resources that I use as a first year medical student to review before my summative exams. It has great high yield diseases sorted out by system, and gives in-depth case studies to learn from. It also includes quizzes at the end of each chapter which is so helpful! Would highly recommend.
I really like the vignettes, they are high quality questions. The book is small and lightweight, so you can bring it to work on questions between classes or on lunch.
Concise, making it easy to learn, and so right on target with what everyone calls high yield. Perfect book for going through one vignette a day and really making a difference in your step score!
