Cashman "fills in the blanks" for the prosecution when he is satisfied they have the right person.Lawrence Margolin has written an dark and unsettling book should make the reader uncomfortable and raises questions which hang in the air, even after the issues in this book are solved.He has been a very sucessful novelist with his past efforts and this one does nothing to diminish his reputation.
I always enjoy this author's plots and storylines. But to tell the truth, he's a little boring. The characters are too predictable and lack personalities, therefore, a lack of enjoyment in getting to know them. I'll probably read him again though, because I'm an Oregonian and love and understand Portland. Also, as I said, he writes a good story.
Phillip Margolin's portrayal of the Pacific Northwest just keeps getting better and better. I makes you want to visit the places he writes about.
As with the other two-star reviewers, I have to reluctantly agree that this is a pretty poor book, very badly written and with a ridiculous unbelievable plot and one-dimensional characters.As I have enjoyed other of his books, I can't imagine what got into him to produce such a shabbily-written book. Was he strapped for money, half-drunk, or just not caring when he churned out this terrible tome?It was difficult to finish it, and when I did I could only wonder why I bothered.
I am a fan of MrMargolin and have been for a long time. It has been awhile since I read this particular book so the answers re: violence and sex might not apply. It's a good read for mystery fans. I love the female character too.
This was the first Philip Margolin book that I read and the one that got me hooked- it is so far one of my favorites. It has a good story line, many plot twists and turns, lots of forensic and court in the story , which I like. I loved the information it had about evidence and jury selection, that all seemed to ring true to life.Its the first introduction for me of some recurring characters... and I look forward to reading more about them.If you are looking for a thriller that has a good plot, not much gore and a great story, this is it!
I have enjoyed the entire "Amanda Jaffee" series!!!I guess I just enjoy Phillip Margolin.
